There's slacking off in school, and then there's this.
What was until now a murky athletic and academic scandal at the University of North Carolina became a lot clearer this week, when apparently the most damning (and viral) piece of evidence yet hit the web.

In an interview with ESPN that went live Tuesday, former academic specialist Mary Willingham produced what she says was a final essay assignment for a bogus class an athlete took at the school. The essay about civil rights legend Rosa Parks, written by an unidentified athlete, was 146 words. Willingham says it received an A-minus.
Rosas Parks: My Story
On the evening of December Rosa Parks decided that she was going to sit in the white people section of the bus in Montgomery, Alabama. During this time blacks had to give up there seats to whites when more whites got on the bus. Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat. Her and the bus driver began to talk and the conversation went like this. "Let me have those front seats" said the driver. She didn't get up and told the driver that she was tired of giving her seat to white people. "I'm going to have you arrested," said the driver. "You may do that," Rosa Parks responded. Two white policemen came in and Rosa Parks asked them "why do you all push us around?" The police officer replied and said "I don't know but the law is the law and you're under arrest.
Astute Twitter users pointed out that it bore a remarkable similarity to Rosa Park's own autobiography — the very first page.
North Carolina has been embroiled in allegations of widespread academic fraud since Willingham claimed massive misconduct in November 2012. She said athletes were given passing grades for subpar work and special easier classes had been set up for them by the athletics department. UNC denied that the problem was so systemic, but a wave of resignations ensued.
Meanwhile, other college athletes are taking legal action to form a union, and a basketball player publicly eviscerated NCAA hypocrisy on Thursday morning before playing in a March Madness game.
What a time for college sports.

Coaching Basketball Essay
Sports have been a big entertainment for all types of people. Little children, teenagers, and adults all love playing and watching sports. Basketball is full of fundamentals and techniques that have helped the game become more fast paced and exciting. Practice is required to develop fundamentals and technique. Coaches try to reinforce and improve skills to achieve their main goal, which is winning. Coaching teaches people of all ages to learn and have fun playing the game. Coaching basketball teaches fundamentals, drills , and the preparation for practice and game.
Coaching requires teaching the basics before any drills or set plays come into play. Fundamentals are very important in basketball because there are so many different skills that are used to play the game. Dribbling is the main part of basketball because it is how a player moves from one court to the other. Dribbling requires the bouncing of the ball with one hand while the other protects the ball. It is very important for some players to be able to dribble the ball better than others, but everyone on the team should have good dribbling skills.
Another very important skill of basketball is passing. Passing is a good way to move the ball by bouncing and throwing it to other teammates. Being unselfish is a big part of passing. Moving the ball around makes for a winning team because if a team is selfish, the other team can take one man out a lot easier than a whole team.
Rebounding can win or lose a ball game in a very silent way. It is very important on both, the offensive and defensive sides because it is good way for a team to keep possesion of the ball . Rebounding means grabbing the ball after the opposing team has shot the basketball. A rebounder can be short or small but has to use their instinct to determine how the ball will bounce of the boards. Blocking out is one of the techniques used to get rebounds. It requires the offensive or defensive player to plant both of his legs in a balanced position in front of the other team. (Sullivan 65). This makes it easier to get rebounds because the player that blocks out makes it unable for the other player to get the ball. Rebounds are important on the offensive glass because the rebounder can just put the ball right back in the hoop for points. Sitting under the hoop waiting for the board is a good way for some players to make a living.
The most important fundamental in basketball is shooting. This requires lots of practice and repetition because this is how the game is won. Coaches that stress the right shooting technique will win more basketball games. 'High shooting percentages means that players make a lot of the shots that they attempted.' (Reinhart 23). There are many different types of shots that should be taught, such as the jump shot, the dunk, lay in, and free throw shot. The jump shot...
