Msu Housing Assignments

On-campus housing sign-up for the 2017-18 academic year will begin online Oct. 24, 2016. Luckily, you don’t have to make rushed plans in order to get the so-called “best place” next year. Take some time to figure things out and focus on finding the right place for you and your lifestyle. Explore campus and your neighborhood, experience all the resources MSU has to offer, make new friends and get involved in the community.

The 2017-18 sign-up schedule for students interested in living in residence halls, University Village Apartments or Apartments/Townhouses at 1855 Place will be based on their residential status, current class standing and desired housing option.

Between Oct. 24 and Oct. 30, current on-campus student residents may sign up online to return to their current space for the 2017-18 academic year. Students currently living in Spartan Village Apartments, may also sign up online during this time to relocate to 1855 Place.

For those looking to sign-up to reserve a new space on-campus, email notification will be sent Oct. 27 with their assigned sign-up start time. An additional reminder email will be sent out 24 hours prior to each student’s sign-up time. Students may sign up online at their assigned time, or any time after, through March 31, 2017. After March 31, students contact the Housing Assignments Office to sign up. 

Any current MSU student looking to live on-campus for the 2017-18 academic year, who does not currently live on-campus, must apply for on-campus housing to receive an assigned sign-up start time by logging into iLiveOn, starting Monday, Oct. 3.


2017-18 ONLINE SIGN-UP TIMELINE FOR CURRENT ON-CAMPUS RESIDENTS:

  • Seniors and Graduate Students

Seniors and graduate students currently living on campus will be randomly assigned a time on Monday, Oct. 31 to sign up online to return to live in any available space on campus.

Juniors currently living on campus will be randomly assigned a time between Tuesday, Nov. 1 and Wednesday, Nov. 2 to sign up online to return to live in any available space on campus.

Sophomores currently living on campus will be randomly assigned a time between Thursday, Nov. 3 and Tuesday, Nov. 8 to sign up online to return to live in any available space on campus.

Freshmen currently living on campus will be randomly assigned a time between Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Monday,Nov. 21 to sign up online to return to live in any available space.


2017-18 ONLINE SIGN-UP TIMELINE FOR OFF-CAMPUS RESIDENTS (1855 Place ONLY):

STEP 1: Apply to live on-campus
Any current MSU student looking to live on-campus for the 2017-18 academic year, who does not currently live on-campus, must apply for on-campus housing by logging into iLiveOn, starting Monday, Oct. 3. Please allow 48 business hours for the application to be processed.

STEP 2: Select your space

  • Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students

After being approved to live on-campus, juniors, seniors and graduate students will be randomly assigned a time between Wednesday, Nov. 2 and Sunday,Nov. 6. Students will be ableto sign up online to live in any available space in the Apartments/Townhouses at 1855 Place.

After being approved to live on-campus, sophomores will be randomly assigned a time between Monday, Nov. 7 and Monday,Nov. 21. Students will be ableto sign up online to live in any available space in the Apartments/Townhouses at 1855 Place.

  • Freshmen and All Other Students

After being approved to live on-campus, students will be assigned a time starting Tuesday, Nov. 22 to sign up online to live in any available space in the Apartments/Townhouses at 1855 Place.

STEP 1: Apply to live on-campus
Any current MSU student looking to live on-campus for the 2017-18 academic year, who does not currently live on-campus, must apply for on-campus housing by logging into iLiveOn, starting Monday, Oct. 3. Please allow 48 business hours for the application to be processed.

STEP 2: Select your space
After being approved to live on campus, students will be assigned a time starting Tuesday, Nov. 22 to sign up online to live in any available space in the residence halls or University Village.

Alcohol-Free
Alcohol-free halls, floors or rooms are spaces in which residents agree that alcoholic beverages will not be brought into the area, even by persons 21 years of age or older.

Smoke-Free

Quiet Halls or Floors
For students desiring an atmosphere where studying is primary, designated quiet halls or floors have quiet hours, generally between 8 p.m. and 10 a.m.

Flexible Housing

Flexible housing is an option that primarily aims to benefit students who wish to live with family members; students who have disabilities that may require them to live with a caretaker; or students who simply feel more comfortable living in a mixed gender environment.  

MSU offers flexible housing options within most residential living facilities on campus.  Students can request a Flexible Housing arrangement on a limited, opt-in basis only.  Students who choose to live in Flexible Housing in a single room will be charged the single room rate.  

For students wishing to live in a Flexible Housing arrangement with a roommate, students may choose to be randomly housed with another Flexible Housing student or may identify another student who has agreed to live in the Flexible Housing arrangement.

Housing For Transgender Students

Supportive living arrangements are available in the residnece halls for students identifying as LBGTQ+. Because of limitations in the available housing options, there is no guarantee that all of a student's preferences can be met, but we are highly committed to working with the student to find the best accomodations possible.
